Mayank Agarwal was born on April 16,1991, in the city of, Karnataka. Mayank Agarwal's full name is Mayank Anurag Agarwal and he is also called by lovingly called Maya. Mayank's father is Anurag Agarwal and mother's name is Suchitra Singh. His grandfather's name is Rabindra Agarwal.
Mayank completed his early education from the Bishop Cotton Boys' School in Bangalore. After that Jain University received further education. Mayank Agarwal's grandfather's brother Sushil Agrawal explains that Mayank was a hobby of cricket since childhood, but sometimes Mayank got depressed, but he never gave up and proved himself. is playing for the first-class cricket Karnataka team and he is an opener of the team. In 2008-09, he was selected for the Under-19 team for Cooch Behar Trophy and ICC Cricket World Cup (U-19). Mayank was bought by Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 IPL auction during the IPL 10 season. He was the leading runner-up in the Vijay Hazare Trophy of the 2017-18 season. In that tournament, his bat shone on all the grounds and he scored 723 runs in 8 matches.

BCCI honored him with Madhavrao Scindia Award for being the highest run scorer in the Ranji Trophy.

In September 2018, Mayank was selected in India's Test squad for the series against the West Indies but he did not get a place in the team. On December 4, 2018, when Shane was out of the series due to injuries, Mayank was selected in India's Test team for the series  India against Australia. He made his Test debut against Australia on December 26, 2018, which scored 76 runs in his first innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

It was the highest score by an Indian cricketer on Test debut in Australia, passing the previous record of 51 runs set by Dattu Phadkar in the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in 1947. He also played the fourth Test and completed the series with 195 runs.
